In their Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium, Saurashtra will be captained by Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. On January 24, the game is scheduled to start.
After missing the middle of the Asia Cup 2022 due to knee surgery, Jadeja is now playing competitive cricket again after almost six months.

Jadeja will have to demonstrate his fitness for the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy after recuperating and finishing his rehabilitation. He will have the opportunity to do so during the game in Chennai, which is his first Ranji Trophy outing since 2018.
Here is what Ravindra Jadeja had to say about his objectives when he spoke to reporters on the day before the game:

“I am feeling good to be back on the field. Very excited. Hopefully, it will come well as a team and as an individual also. See my first priority is to get on the field and be fit…100 percent fit. Once I am 100 percent fit, I will work more on my skills, whether it is batting or bowling. Now, my first priority is fitness,” Ravindra Jadeja said.
“I was at the NCA for 20 days”: Ravindra Jadeja
If fit, Ravindra Jadeja may play in the first two Test matches against Australia next month. He was eager to acquire some match experience and thinks the encounter versus Tamil Nadu will help him get the hang of playing red-ball cricket.
Jadeja talked openly about the long-term injury he had, saying: “I was at the NCA for 20 days. I was batting and bowling. The match scenario is different. I wanted one game before the Australia series, that’s why I am here.”
“Nobody wants to get injured at your peak time. [But] It is part of the game. You have to keep that in mind and be prepared for it. There is no guarantee that one won’t get injured in cricket,” Ravindra Jadeja added.
With three victories and 26 points accrued from six games, Jadeja’s Saurashtra now sits atop the Elite B table of the Ranji Trophy. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is in fifth place with only 15 points after six games.
