IND vs AUS: "So They Choose Suryakumar Yadav Over Sarfaraz": Twitter React As Sarfaraz Khan Fails To Find Spot In India Team For IND vs AUS Tests

Sarfaraz Khan was left out of India’s team for the opening two Test matches against Australia, which was released by the BCCI on Friday (January 13). The change occurred despite Sarfaraz’s first-class cricket average of an excellent 80.47.
The ICC World Test Championship final in 2023 will be decided by the results of the India vs. Australia series, which will be announced by the BCCI on Friday. The four-match Test series, which starts on February 9, will be captained by Rohit Sharma.
Sarfaraz Khan has scored 3380 runs in 36 FC games, including 12 centuries and 9 half-centuries, for those who are unfamiliar. In five games for Mumbai in the current Ranji Trophy, he has amassed 431 runs, including two centuries and a fifty. Last season, the right-hander scored 982 runs in six games for an average of 122.75 runs per game, including four tons.
Fans questioned the decision to choose white-ball specialists Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan over Sarfaraz Khan for Tests when he is in such excellent form.

Twitter users questioned why Suryakumar Yadav was picked over Sarfaraz Khan for Tests:
So they choose SKY over Sarfaraz & Patidar ?. Tbf not surprising for me. I saw that coming, Surya was in the Test squad to England & vs NZ also. He played couple of matches in ranji. Was convinced he is gonna land up in tests squad. https://t.co/SLbDuTvACH

My heart goes out for Sarfaraz Khan. It will be long night for him. He is so close and yet so far. Happy for Shaw and SKY.

Hope someone is there to comfort Sarfaraz tonight. All those truckload of runs only to be ignored again and see SKY get the preference for mainly his white-ball performance.
He has every bit of those game-changing skills if India was looking for that in Pant's absence.

Very hard on Sarfaraz Khan who has literally broken the door down in first class cricket. You can't do more than he has.

So scoring 100s in t20I’s is a back door entry to test cricket? Shows India’s premier red ball tournament in poor light & sends a poor message to guys like Sarfaraz Khan. SKY very well may be successful at the test level and this may work out..

Mindset from t20s if we make someone play test cricket on basis of his t20 form thats not fair on those who are playing ranji trophy regularly and performing well in domestic and I said this even when Shreyas iyer was selected should have selected sarfaraz there too

But bro Sarfaraz got his chances for India A and he failed to score against foreign bowler. And you want him to make his debut against the deadly attack of Starc-Cummins-Hazelwood? And if he failed then he will receive too much hate.

A 17-person team has been selected by the All-India Senior Selection Committee to play Australia in the first two Test matches. Suryakumar Yadav was added due to his success in T20Is during the previous 12 months.
Following his ODI double-century in Bangladesh last month, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan also won a place. Depending on his physical condition, all-arounder Ravindra Jadeja has been included in the Indian team.
Jasprit Bumrah, a star bowler, has been sidelined as a precaution before the ODI World Cup in 2023 at home.
The first Test match between Team India and Australia will take place in Nagpur (February 9-13). The following three Tests will thereafter be played at Ahmedabad (March 9-13), Dharamsala (March 1-5), and Delhi (February 17-21).
