Australia will have a tough job on their hands as they try to pull the series back into balance with a win in the second Test. The team has a lot on its plate at the moment, with some injuries haunting the team. However, according to the latest reports Mitch Starc could be back as soon as the second Test.
Scott Boland is optimistic that his performance has convinced Australia’s selectors to retain him in the team for the second Test against India in Delhi, even with the expected return of Mitchell Starc following his recovery from a finger injury

Due to Josh Hazlewood’s Achilles injury, Scott Boland was not included in the starting lineup for the Nagpur Test. However, he got an opportunity to play and bowled 17 overs, giving away only 34 runs during India’s innings of 400.
He delivered an exceptional spell of fast bowling on the second morning, conceding only three runs and bowling three maidens in six overs to Rohit Sharma, who was in good form. Australia had leaked 40 runs in the first 13 overs of the morning, but Scott Boland’s slowing down the run rate helped Todd Murphy claim two wickets at the other end.
I Felt Like I Bowled Well: Scott Boland
Boland’s impressive performance has improved his chances of being selected for the second Test, despite the imminent return of Mitchell Starc from injury. Talking about his chances of making it into the playing XI Scott Boland believes that he tried his best and it is up to the selectors now to make the final call.

“I felt like I bowled well, but when you are bringing in someone like Mitchell Starc, who is a gun in these conditions and has bowled really well in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, hopefully, I made the selectors job a little bit tougher than what it originally was.”
“Obviously I want to play. I enjoyed the challenge of bowling in these different conditions. I’ve just got to make the selectors’ job as hard as I can to bring someone in. I don’t think we’re going to play three fast bowlers. There’s only going to be two spots up for grabs, I reckon.”
It is surely going to be a tough call for the Australian selectors to decide on either Mitchell Starc or Scott Boland, more bowlers bring a different impact on the team, and at this stage Australia cannot have any slip-ups.
