Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action for an extended period of time. He last played international cricket for India National Cricket Team in September 2022, before being ruled out with a back injury.
The 29-year-old right-arm pacer was a late inclusion in India’s squad for the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka and he was set to make his comeback to top-level cricket. However, he was ruled out of the ODI series and BCCI stated the pacer “will need some more time to build bowling resilience.”
Jasprit Bumrah is a unique bowler – Paras Mhambrey
Recently, speaking at a press conference, India National Cricket Team bowling coach Paras Mhambrey was asked about Bumrah. He showered praise on the right-arm pacer, saying that he is a unique bowler.
“Bumrah is a unique bowler. Let’s accept the fact that the kind of skills he brings is very difficult to replicate. It’s also an opportunity for other bowlers because you will be tested in different situations.” said Paras Mhambrey.
“It will help us understand what they bring to the game, at what stages did they bowl and how they did it. There are one-on-one discussions with them. It’s an ongoing process.” he added.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah is not part of the ongoing white-ball series against New Zealand and he has not been included in the squad for the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
