The 28-year-old India National Cricket Team in-form right-arm speedster Mohammed Siraj sledged the 33-year-old star Australia National Cricket Team batter, Steve Smith, after bowling a fiery first spell on Day 1 of the first Test on Thursday, February 9.
The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series-opening clash between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and the Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team is currently underway at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur.

When the Indians and Aussies are on the field, especially in the Test arena, banters and sledging not taking place is impossible. The sledging in the first Test happened in the first hour of the play itself after the in-form pacer Siraj said a few words to Steve Smith.
On the third ball of the 9th over of the innings, Siraj bowled a wobble-seam delivery to Smith on the off-stump that kept low and beat the inside edge to hit the pad. Notably, Smith uncomfortably played a defensive shot on the back foot and missed it completely.

After the ball hit the pad, the Indian pacer appealed for LBW, but soon he acknowledged that the ball would have missed the stumps. He was also seen having a small interaction with the star Aussie batter.

Mohammed Siraj bowled a terrific first spell in the match. He bowled five overs, of which 3 were maiden overs, and he gave away 13 runs, dismissing Usman Khawaja.
Notably, Siraj got rid of the 36-year-old Australia National Cricket Team opening batsman Usman Khawaja on the very first ball of his spell. He trapped Khawaja LBW with a brilliant delivery and Team India took a review to overturn on-field umpire Nitin Menon’s decision and dismiss the opening batsman.
