SL vs AUS: Kasun Rajitha And Matheesha Pathirana Out Of The Final T20I Against Australia Due To Injury

Sri Lankans Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana have indeed been ruled out of the third and final T20I against Australia, compounding the hosts’ hardship in losing the series. The fast bowling duo, who have yet to find games of the series, have suffered hip and right elbow injuries, respectively.
Australia leads the three-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka 2-0. The hosts have fallen behind in every unit and will reckon to retaliate against Australia as the multi-format series progresses.
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed the news on Twitter, naming Asitha Fernando and Pramod Madhushan.
The Dasun Shanaka-led team has been outmatched by World Champions Australia, who have outperformed them in every category. While Sri Lanka did lose the first T20I due to Josh Hazlewood’s brilliance, Matthew Wade’s tenacious innings defeated them in the second. With an unchallengeable series lead, Australia will take a glance to move forwards heading into the five-match ODI Super League series.
The One-Day International series is crucial for both countries because it will determine their qualification for the World Cup, which will be held in India in 2023.
Kasun Rajitha made his T20 debut for Sri Lanka against India:
On 9 February 2016, he made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Sri Lanka against India. In May 2018, he was named to Sri Lanka’s Test squad for the series against the West Indies. On 14 June 2018, he made his Test debut for Sri Lanka against the West Indies.
In July 2018, Kasun Rajitha was named to Sri Lanka’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against South Africa. On 1 August 2018, he made his ODI debut for Sri Lanka against South Africa.
Sri Lanka will have to rebound back against a strong Australian team, who appear to be doing everything right with their lineup at the time. On June 11th, at 7 p.m. IST, the third and final T20I will be contested in Kandy.
