Australia and Sri Lanka face each other in the third and final T20I of the three-match series in Pallekele on Saturday, June 11. Australia has already won the series having won the first two games. For Sri Lanka, winning the third T20I will be a matter of pride heading further into the series.

Both teams play five ODIs and two Test matches after the end of the T20I series. The ODI series will be a part of the ODI Super League while the Test series will be a part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2021-23.

Talking about the ongoing T20I series, Australia away from home has been dominating over Sri Lanka. Aaron Finch and David Warner batted them to a win in the first game. In the second, their bowlers restricted the Lankans to a below-par total and kept their nerve to chase it down.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc is ruled out of the T220I series and also from the ODI series after an injury on the index finger of his left hand on his shoe spike during the first over of the game. Cricket Australia reported that he will be fit in time for the two-match Test series starting in Galle on June 29. Jhye Richardson has been named as cover for the third T20I.

Sean Abbott has also been ruled out of the remaining tour after he fractured his left index finger while batting at the nets. Cricket Australia hasn’t named a replacement for Abbott for the T20Is but Scott Boland has been called up to replace him in the ‘A’ squad.

Sri Lanka, on the other end, has not batted well in both games. Their openers have not given the team consistent starts for their middle-order to take charge. In the first ODI, they were bowled out for 128 after being 100/2 in the 12th over. In the second, they just did not get off the blocks.

Their bowlers did their best to pull them back in the game but the score was too less to be defended. There are no injury concerns for Sri Lanka heading into the third and final game. They would hope to deliver a much better performance in the final game.
