No IPL-Bound Players Included As South Africa Announce Squad For Test Series vs Bangladesh

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced South Africa’s squad for the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team and no IPL-Bound players have been included in the squad.
Several South African players including the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Pretorius and Quinton de Kock were able to get good Indian Premier League (IPL) contracts during the mega-auction.

The 10-team Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 tournament is all set to begin from March 26 and all the games of the league stage will be played in Maharashtra across 4 different venues including Wankhede Stadium, Dy Patil Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
The Indian Premier League 2022 will clash with the two-match Test series between South Africa and Bangladesh and the Proteas IPL-bound players have decided to play the marquee T20 league over the Test series.

Meanwhile, CSA Convenor of Selectors, Victor Mpitsang has said that the loss of IPL players is not ideal for the team.
“CSA’s current MOU with @SACAplayers states that CSA is not at liberty to refuse players the opportunity to take part in the IPL, as CSA and SACA look to balance the livelihoods and opportunities of players and their national duties,” CSA tweeted.

“The loss of the IPL players is not ideal, but we back the CSA system, its ever-growing pipeline and most of all, the players we have selected,” says CSA Convenor of Selectors, Victor Mpitsang.”
