South Africa are set to host Bangladesh for three ODIs, followed by two Tests. The series will begin with ODIs and the first one-day international is slated to be played on 18th March 2022 at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
It is pertinent to note that South Africa have never lost an ODI against Bangladesh in their own backyard. The Proteas would be looking to continue the winning streak. South Africa last played an ODI series against India at home. They exhibited sensational performances to beat them by a 3-0 margin. South Africa have announced more or less a similar squad against Bangladesh as well.
Talking about their batting department, the likes of Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen will be the men to watch out for. They were brilliant in the last series against India and are expected to do well against India as well. Besides, the batting unit also consist the likes of Aiden Markram, Janneman Malan, and Temba Bavuma to name a few.
As for the pace department, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen are likely to form the pace attack in the first ODI. Besides, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj should continue to share the spin bowling duties.
On the other hand, Bangladesh too wouldn’t be short of confidence either. They have beaten Afghanistan in an ODI series by 2-1 and would be looking to break their losing streak in South Africa. Bangladesh too have a strong batting unit.
Liton Das is the man in form. He has been scoring runs consistently across formats and, thus, will be the biggest bet for the team. Besides, Shakib Al Hasan is available and part of the squad. It should keep the team in good stead. Besides, the likes of Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal ought to live up to the expectations and play well if Bangladesh needs to give any sort of fight to the home side.
Bangladesh have got some good pacers at their disposal such as Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam. The conditions in South Africa should suit their style of bowling. However, it won’t be easy to dominate against a powerful South Africa batting unit.

The fast bowlers as often on this surface will get help early on with the new ball. However, once the batter adjust to the conditions, he will find it easier to bat later and could score big knocks with the bat. Teams which have batted second has won more games than the one batted first. Thus, you can expect both teams to bowl first upon winning the toss.
