Former Australian cricketer Brad Hodge asserted that Sydney Sixers’ captain, Moises Henriques, should be punished after he made comments about the action of Sydney Thunder’s bowler, Mohammad Hasnain, during a BBL XI match.

Hasnain was reported for suspect action soon after and it meant that he will not be able to take further part in the BBL XI. There was an incident prior to the report where Henriques had a go at Hasnain.

After failing to make contact with a delivery from the 21-year-old Pakistani pacer, Henriques said, “Nice throw, mate” several times which led to a staredown between the two. This particular incident was against the spirit of cricket, as per Hodge.

I reckon that’s wrong from Moises Henriques. That’s against the spirit of cricket. He should be punished for that. If you report the matter to the umpires and they take that into their hands, then fair enough, but you can’t really say that on the field,” Hodge said on Channel 7.

Following the incident, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that there won’t be an investigation into the conduct of Henriques. In the case of Hasnain, however, he will need to undergo a test on his action.

I don’t see a huge issue with what Hasnain is doing visually. Yeah, it looks like there’s a bit of a bent arm, but we’ve seen one of our best ever that did it for two decades. I think we want to see pace back in the game. If you bowl it at 145 [kilometres per hour] and it’s really borderline, I think let it play on,” Hodge mentioned.
