Brisbane Heat will take on Melbourne Renegades in the 11th match of BBL 2021-22 on Monday at Carrara Oval, Queensland. The two teams haven’t fared too well in the tournament thus far and are currently sitting at the bottom half of the points table. Brisbane Heat have lost both the games they have played this year.
They suffered a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Sydney Thunder in their first game. They fought hard in the next game against Perth Scorchers but fell 6 runs short in the end.
In their last game, a combined bowling effort from Brisbane Heat helped them restrict Perth Scorchers to 157 in the first innings. Brisbane didn’t make an ideal start to the chase, having lost the first two wickets for 16 runs inside the first four overs.
Chris Lynn (27 off 33) too looked rusty with the bat. Sam Heazlett (34 off 17), however, played a wonderful knock and kept the team very much in the chase. However, he got out at an unfortunate time and Brisbane kept losing wickets thereafter.
Xavier Bartlett later played a gem of a knock and gave the team every chance to win the game. He hit five fours en-route to his unbeaten 34 off 25, however, it wasn’t enough for the Heat to win the game. Ahead of the game on Monday, Brisbane Heat would look to earn their first points in the tournament.
Facing them are Melbourne Renegades, who have won and lost one match each in the tournament thus far. The Renegades won their first game against Adelaide Strikers by 2 runs.
Melbourne Renegades batted first in their first game against Adelaide Strikers and scored a decent-looking 153 in the first innings. Sam Harper (33 off 28) and Mackenzie Harvey (56 off 46) made a great start, stitching a 65-run partnership for the opening wicket. However, once the former got out, wickets kept falling at regular intervals as the Renegades got folded for a sub-par total.
Adelaide Strikers too fought hard with the bat but fell 2 runs short in the end. For Renegades, Zahir Khan was wonderful with the ball. He took the wickets of both the openers and Jonathan Wells. In 4 overs, he gave just 24 runs for three wickets.
The renegades, however, lost their next game against the same team. They would look to get back to winning ways.
