BAN vs SL Today Match Prediction- 1st T20I, Who Will Win Today’s T20I Match? 2024

The BAN vs SL 1st T20I match will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on March 4, from 5.30 pm IST. This is the first of the three-match T20I series. All the matches will be played in Sylhet. 

The series then moves on to the three-match ODI series to be played in Chittagong. The two teams then return to Sylhet for the first Test and go back to Chittagong for the second. The series will be played from March 4- April 3.

Team Analysis

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka will be led by Charith Asalanka in the first two games. Regular skipper Wanindu Hasaranga has been banned from two T20Is by the ICC after an altercation with the on-field umpire in the third vT20I against Afghanistan.

The Lankans will also be missing the likes of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera. While Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, Perera has been ruled out due to a respiratory infection. Niroshan Dickwell has been called in as his cover. 

Bangladesh

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be led by Najmul Hossain Shanto. Shakib Al Hasan is currently out of the team as he is suffering from eye problems.

Maumudullah Riyad has returned to the T20I side while Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from the format recently. Off-spinner Aliss Islam has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series due to a finger injury. He has been replaced by keeper-batter Jaker Ali.

Pitch Conditions 

The pitches across venues in Bangladesh are spin-friendly across formats. Most of the T20I games are played in the evening with the pitches assisting more tur under lights.  

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium has hosted 48 T20Is with teams batting first winning on more occasions than teams chasing. Chasing under lights with the ball spinning big. Dew is not as big a factor in Bangladesh as it is in Indian or Pakistani conditions favoring the chasing team.

Form and Fitness 

Both teams have concerns with fitness as they are missing key players. Bangladesh are missing Shakib Al Hasan while Sri Lanka are missing the likes of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera. Hasranga is missing from action due to disciplinary issues. 

Talking about form. Nissanka was a crucial player for Sri Lanka. He recently became the first Lankan batter to score a double century in ODI cricket. The batting form of the likes Of Shano, Litton Das, and Towhid Hridoy are good as they are coming off a good BPL season. 

Tactical Acumen

Both teams are without their regular captains. Shanto and Asalanka are both inexperienced captains. Bangladesh recently lost the T20I series against New Zealand under Shanto. Asalanka will lead his side for the first time in T20Is.
