The RR vs DC IPL 2024 match will be played in Jaipur on March 28. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST. This is the second home game for the Rajasthan Royals and the second away game on the trot for Delhi Capitals. 

The Royals defeated LSG by 20 runs in their first game while the Capitals failed to defend 175 against Punjab Kings. In 27 matches against each other Rajasthan Royals have won 14 games and Delhi Capitals 13. The Capitals are among the three original teams not to have won the IPL yet.

Rajasthan Royals 

The Royals had a blazing start in the first match as they posted 193 with the bat and successfully defended the target. Sanju Samson scored an unbeaten 82 while Riyan Parag scored a timely 49 off 29 balls. Everything fell into place perfectly for the Royals as they won their first game. 

Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal took a wicket each as Trent Boult continued his trend of taking wickets inside the powerplay. They have got their core well retained which has served them well. 

Delhi Capitals 

Capitals will be bolstered by the return of Anrich Nortje who has joined the team and will be available for selection against Rajasthan Royals. He is coming back after a long injury lay-off which forced him to miss the last World Cup as well. He took 10 wickets off 10 matches last year. Rishabh Pant will be playing his 100th game for the Capitals against the Royals. 

They have a relatively inexperienced Indian pace bowling unit but Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel form an experienced spin core who need to deliver against the Royals.

Pitch Conditions 

The Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur is a high-scoring venue as was evident from the last game. The Royals scored 193 batting first. They are amongst the teams teams who like to bat first post big totals and back their bowlers to defend. The presence of specialist bowlers makes the job easier. However the stats back the chasing team to win more games. 34 out of the 53 matches played at the venue have been won by the team chasing. 

Form and Fitness 

As said earlier, Anrich Nortje has been deemed fit from a back injury that kept him out of the game since September 2023. Prasidh Krishna was ruled out after he recently had surgery. Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma hobbled after bowling just two overs and did not come back to complete his spell. It will be interesting to see whether he lays against the Royals.

Form-wide the batters of the Royals are looking in good touch heading into the contest. Rishabh Pant scored just 18 on his return game and needs to play a big knock for his 100th game for the Capitals.

Tactical Acumen

Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first in the previous game paying dividends. Rishabh Pant on his captaincy return lost out of ideas when his team was losing wickets. He also had issues making the right bowling changes against the Punjab Kings. However, he is expected to come back strongly.
