Ishan Kishan has been on the headlines after becoming only the second India to score a fifty on an international T20 debut in the five-match series against England. He earned his maiden call up to the Indian side for the England series after his heroics in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 and in the IPL 2020 where he finished as the highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians.

He has been on the radar of the selectors after some consistent performances in both IPL as well as domestic circuit and has worked really hard to be at the position he is now. He was very much impressive in his first international game and did not show any signs of nervousness which was hailed by all the experts. 1. MI vs RCB- IPL 2020, Match 10

This was the match where Ishan showed the world of his hitting prowess. Coming in at 4, Ishan had a massive task ahead with a daunting target of 202 to win while the top order did not get going. He stitched a 119 run partnership with Kieron Pollard for the fifth wicket to bring Mumbai back into the game and was unfortunate to miss out on a century when he was dismissed on 99 in 58 deliveries with 9 sixes. RCB won the match in a super over.

2. MI vs KKR- IPL 2018, Match 41

Mumbai did not get off to a good start in this game as they were stuttering at 62/2 at the end of 9 overs. Ishan Kishan’s quickfire 62 of just 21 deliveries in this match league fixture against KKR propelled the score the team total to 210 in 20 overs. Ishan pummelled six sixes and five fours in the innings at a strike rate of 295 and he was rightly awarded the man of the match for his efforts.

This was a one-sided game totally as the Chennai Super Kings could manage only 114 on the board at the 20 over the mark for the loss of 9 wickets. In reply, Ishan was sent up the order to partner with De Kock in the absence of injured Rohit Sharma, and Kishan played a blinder of an innings with 68 off 37 deliveries. He hit five sixes and six fours in the innings and Mumbai reached the target in just 12.2 overs with ten wickets in hand.

4. MI vs DC- IPL 2020, Match 51

This was the second meeting between these teams in the IPL 2020 and Mumbai dominated the proceedings from ball one. Delhi Capitals managed only 110 runs in their full quota of overs which was a very easy run chase for the strong Mumbai batting order. Ishan opened the innings for Mumbai alongside De Kock and scored 72 off 47 deliveries with 8 fours and three sixes in his innings. He was the player of the match as Mumbai cruised to victory.

5. Jharkhand vs MP- Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, Group B Match

This was the best knock from Ishan Kishan in recent times which defined his career and earned him the call up to the Indian squad. Ishan smashed the Madhya Pradesh bowlers apart and scored 173 off just 94 deliveries with 11 sixes and 19 fours in the innings. He played at a strike rate of 184 and took his team to a total of 422 on the board and Jharkhand eventually won the match by a margin of 324 runs.

6. Jharkhand vs Orissa- Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, Elite Group B Match

Ishan Kishan captained the Jharkhand side in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy recently and he needed to provide the team with the perfect start as they were batting first. Ishan scored a blistering 60 of just 36 deliveries at a strike rate of 166. He hit three sixes and six fours in the innings to propel the team score to 182. Orissa managed to get 128 in reply and lost the game by a margin of 54 runs.

7. Jharkhand vs Odisha-Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018, East Zone Match

Odisha batted first in this fixture and managed to get 123 on the board in their quota of 2o overs which wasn’t going to be enough against a strong batting lineup of Jharkhand. In reply, Ishan went after the bowling scoring blazing innings of 51 in just 38 deliveries. He hit five fours and three sixes in the innings at a strike rate of 134 and kept Jharkhand in a position from which they could not lose the game.

8. Jharkhand vs Assam- Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018, Elite Group C Match

Assam batted first and posted a total of 221 on the board against the Jharkhand side captained by Ishan. In reply, Jharkhand cruised to victory in just 31 overs with eight wickets in hand and it was totally a one-man show from the skipper Ishan Kishan who scored 139 in just 91 balls. He hit nine sixes and 12 fours in the innings and took the game away from the Assam team.

9. Jharkhand vs Tamil Nadu- Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018, Elite Group C Match

This was a close contest in which Jharkhand came out best in a small margin of 8 runs. Jharkhand posted a total of 307 on the board against a tough Tamilnadu side and Ishan top-scored for the team scoring 85 off 87 deliveries and hit three sixes and 8 fours in the innings. His innings were very important for Jharkhand as Tamil Nadu faltered in the chase despite skipper Baba Indrajith’s hard-fought century.

10. India A vs South Africa A- Second Unofficial ODI, 2019

Ishan Kishan’s splendid innings of 55 in just 24 deliveries proved to be the difference between the sides as India A won the game against South Africa A in Thiruvananthapuram with 6 balls remaining. The 21-over match saw South Africa posting 162 on the board on the back of George Linde’s quickfire fifty and in reply, India chased the target on the fall of eight wickets, thanks to Ishan’s superb efforts.

11. India vs England 2019- 2nd T20

India staged a good comeback in the second T20 against England and it was mainly possible due to the blistering innings of debutant Ishan Kishan who scored 56 in just 34 balls. He was never afraid to take on one of the world’s best fast-bowling units and did not show any nervousness too. He hit four sixes and five fours in the innings and deservedly won the man of the match for his performance.
