Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was overjoyed and over the moon by the reception from the Mumbai crowd on Thursday night. The night will be etched in history and will be a part of the memories of a lifetime.

Since landing in New Delhi in the early hours of Thursday morning, to wrapping up the day with the bus parade from Marine Drive to the Wankhede stadium, the Indian players saw the entire Mumbai city welcome them on the streets.

The streets were full of chanting and praising the Indian cricketers for their recent World Cup win. There were non-stop Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah chants happening.

The BCCI shared several videos and pictures of the memorable evening at the Wankhede stadium. The board felicitated the Indian players for their World Cup. It was India's first ICC title in 11 years and the first T20 World Cup in 17 years since winning the inaugural T20 World Cup. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma became the only Indian player to win the T20 World Cup as a player and captain.

In a video shared by BCCI across their social media platforms, Rohit Sharma tried to speak out his emotions and sum up his feelings about Thursday evening.

Rohit Sharma's Emotional Speech On Bus Parade After World Cup Win

"We started off in the afternoon and this is in the evening. I cannot forget 2007 as it was my first World Cup. This is little more special because I was leading the team, it's a very proud moment for me, this is going to be mad. You can make out the excitement and it shows how much it means not just to us but also to the entire nation it means a lot. So I am very happy that we could achieve something like this for them as well" Rohit said.

The visuals then showed Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and all the other Indian players posing with the trophy hugging each other, and celebrating the moment.

This was India's third T20 World Cup final which resulted in the Men in Blue winning their second T20 World Cup title. This is India's first ICC title in 11 years as they brought an end to the trophy drought.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired from the format after India's T20 World Cup win as they wanted to leave a legacy for the younger generation and time on their hands ahead of the next T20 World Cup in 2026 in India. It was also Rahul Dravid's final game for India as head coach.

After not being able to win a World Cup as a player and captain, Dravid finally had his hands on one as the coach of the Indian cricket team.

“Thank you very much, Ro (Rohit), for making that call in November and asking me to continue. It’s been such a privilege and a pleasure to work with each and every one of you, but also with Ro. Thank you for your time. I know as captain and coach, there are a lot of times we have to chat. We have to agree; we have to disagree. It’s been brilliant to know each and every one of you" said Dravid as he thanked Rohit Sharma for asking him to continue after India's ODI World Cup final loss in November 2023.
