Rohit Sharma was the skipper of India in the Tests in 2022. This year, India played three Test series- an away Test series against South Africa, a home Test series against Sri Lanka, and a one-off Test match against England. While the Indian team lost the Test series against South Africa 2-1, they won the Test series against Sri Lanka 2-0. The Test series against England ended in a tie 2-2.
There were some players who performed brilliantly for India in Tests this year. However, there were also some players who failed to score well. 3 Indian Players Who Need To Be Sacked From The Test Side To Revive India’s Test Form
3. KL Rahul

KL Rahul is the first player on this list. KL is an opener for the team in Tests and T20Is. In ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan grabs his place as opener and KL takes the middle-order position. In 2022, KL Rahul was picked in only 2 Test matches in which he scored 80 runs in 4 innings at an average of 20.0.
He did not play any more Test games. Since KL Rahul already plays in ODIs and T20Is, he should be rested in Tests and a specialist opener should be given opportunities as an opener in the red-ball format. This will help the team to have a trustworthy and consistent opener in Tests.

2. Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is another player who should be sacked from the Test side to revive India’s Test form. Umesh Yadav only played 1 Test early this year against South Africa. He could only pick 2 wickets in 2 innings. The right-arm pacer was dropped from the team and not picked in other games.
However, he is again picked in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Umesh Yadav has already reached 35 years of age. On the Test side, giving a chance to young pacers like Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh or others can come as a big advantage, Hence, Umesh Yadav should be dropped and young pacers should be given opportunities in the Test team.

1. Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara is another player on this list. The right-handed batsman is a Test specialist batsman for the team who only plays in the longest format. Earlier this year, Pujara was dropped from the Test side due to a poor show over the last year.
However, after his good show in county cricket in England, he was again made a part of the Test team. The 34-year-old batter has held a batting average of 31+, 28+, and 20+ in the last 3 years respectively.
Cheteshwar Pujara has also failed to hit any Test century since January 2019. Hence, the team should opt for a young and powerful batter who can strengthen the batting department.
