India will be taking on England in a five-match T20 series and this will be a big opportunity for the new faces that have been picked on the side considering their good performances. The selectors have opted to try out Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rahul Tewatia in the five-match series, and England being a tough limited-overs side to beat, this will a great testimony for the Indian youngsters.

India dominated the test series and won it comfortably 3-1 which pushed them to the Worst test championship final recently. The T20 series against England will be important with only IPL remaining as the major T20 practice before the T20 World Cup begins in October this year.

3 Indian Players Who Won’t Get A Chance In The ODI Setup Despite Being Selected For T20Is:

Rahul Tewatia:

All-rounder Rahul Tewatia was the most surprising pick of all but did deserve it due to his excellent performances with the bat in the IPL last year. He single-handedly carried away Rajasthan over the line on two or more occasions and showed that he can be a match-winner. He can bowl four economical overs too which is an added advantage.

Rahul Tewatia hit five sixes of Sheldon Cottrell to change the game totally on its head against Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 IPL and revealed his all-round abilities. The 27-year-old has so far played 34 matches in the IPL with an impressive economy rate of 7.13 while averaging more than 30 with the bat. Being a left-hander, he provides an extra cushion and could clear the ropes at will. With a lot of all-rounders in the side already, he might the one to miss out on a chance for the Indian ODI side.

Ishan Kishan:

Wicket Keeper Batsman Ishan Kishan who captained the Indian U-19 side in the 2016 WorldCup was given the nod for the England T20 series considering his efforts in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. He produced a blistering inning of a 94 ball 173 for the Jharkhand team at the top of the order which took the cricketing world by shock and soon earned his maiden call up to the Indian side.

Sanju Samson has been given ample opportunities in the T20 format and he hasn’t performed as he should have with the amount of talent he possesses. It was the right decision from the selectors to back Ishan Kishan who could play anywhere in the batting order and being a left-hander is an added advantage. He finished as the highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2020 campaign but still will have to wait for his opportunity in the 50 over format as India have a backup option with KL Rahul.

Suryakumar Yadav:

Suryakumar Yadav has been unlucky over the years as he has not been looked upon by the selectors despite his consistent performances for the Mumbai Indians as well as in the domestic circuit. Finally, he earned his maiden call up to the Indian T20 side for the England Series on account of his good form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Suryakumar Yadav is an excellent fielder and is one of the safest catchers going around in India now. The 30-year-old can bat at the top of the order while he can finish off games as well. With a top-heavy Indian batting order, Suryakumar Yadav is most likely to slot in the middle order and he will have to wait for his opportunity with Pant, Hardik, and Iyer in the side. He is also expected to miss out on the ODI squad with a lot of options already available.
