Sanju Samson made his international debut in July 2015, in a T20I series against Zimbabwe. So far, Sanju Samson has played 7 T20Is and scored only 83 runs with the highest score of 23. In 2020, Samson played few T20I games for India. He was part of the T20I games against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January and February of 2020.

After his amazing performance for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020, Samson was given opportunities in India vs Australia T20I series in December 2020. However, he could not grab the limelight with his batting and scored 23, 15, and 10 in the three T20I matches. In the following ODI series against Australia, Sanju Samson was part of the squad but was not chosen in the playing 11.  Now, After Rishabh Pant’s amazing performance in the ODI series against England, Samson will face difficulties to bag a spot in the ODIs.
