England came out roaring on Day 2 and demolished the Indian batting line-up in a flash in the ongoing fifth and final Test at The Oval. India were bowled out for just 224 runs, and their batting completely collapsed against England on Day 2.

They were hoping to fight back after a gritty Day 1, but they were bowled out for 224, leaving one and all shocked and disappointed. England bowlers took only 34 balls to take the rest of the four wickets on the Day 2 morning session, and they shockingly conceded only 6 runs to India.

India lose 4 wickets for just 6 runs on Day 2

Earlier, Karun Nair had shown resistance with a fighting half-century on Day 1, while Sai Sudharsan (38) and Washington Sundar (26) gave him some support. But their little momentum was crushed by the hosts on Day 2. Gus Atkinson made a stunning comeback to Tests, as he was on fire and grabbed a sensational five-wicket haul, ripping through India’s tail, at The Oval.

Despite sunny skies, the ball was swinging dangerously, and India’s lower order had no answers. England bowlers’ fiery start has completely shifted the momentum massively in their favor.

England makes aggressive start on Day 2 at The Oval

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team looks in trouble as England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett have already racked up 70 runs inside 10 overs in the ongoing final Test at The Oval. Both openers have already made 30+ runs, and India is still searching for a breakthrough on Day 2.

India lost a review in the 4th over of England’s innings on Day 2. Akash Deep bowled a sharp delivery to Ben Duckett. It was on a good length, coming in from around the wicket, and then moved away after pitching. The ball struck Duckett on the knee roll, and India quickly went for a review, hoping for an LBW.

However, ball-tracking showed it was going over the stumps, and India lost their review. Then, in the 8th over, Prasidh Krishna created the chance, but the touring side left yet again disappointed. He bowled a good full delivery to Zak Crawley that almost got him out. The ball looked like it would move away but jagged back in off the pitch, catching Crawley’s inside edge.

The ball struck Crawley’s bat, then his pad, and almost hit the stumps. But the ball narrowly missed the leg stumps and went for four runs towards fine leg, and the English opener survived.

India complains to ICC over ‘Old’ replacement ball

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team has raised a serious concern during the ongoing five-match Test series in England. They believe that the umpires were unfair, especially when it came to changing the cricket balls. As reported by the Indian Express, India has officially complained to the ICC match referee about this issue.

The biggest problem happened during the Lord’s Test. India had taken a new ball, but after 10 overs, it went out of shape. According to the rules, the replacement ball should be in a similar condition. But India says they were given a much older ball that looked like it had been used for 30 to 35 overs.

The umpires told India that no ball of similar condition was available. India has now complained to the ICC match referee, saying this was unfair and may have affected their performance.
