West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein urges football megastar Cristiano Ronaldo to rescue them from the subcontinent. The cricketer, through a social media post, asks the Portuguese footballer to send his private jet to help them to return home.

Because of the conflicts between the Gulf states and the Middle East, the West Indies cricket team is yet to take its return flight. As per media reports, the team has struck in the subcontinent. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has been in constant touch with the cricketers and the International Cricket Council (ICC) to arrange a safe way to take the team back.

For 5 days, the West Indies cricket team has been stuck in the subcontinent

As per the media reports, 5 days have passed, since the India vs West Indies match, but the Caribbean cricketers are yet to receive a return ticket. A few days before, the cricket governing body of West Indies, shared a message on the social media platform 'X', ensuring they are doing the needful to take their players safely to their homes.

Cricket West Indies assured the safety of the team

"CWI has remained in constant dialogue with the players, team management, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) since their last match against India. While the situation remains complex and fluid due to international airspace restrictions arising from security concerns in the Gulf region, CWI assures the public that every precaution is being taken to ensure the safe return of the team to the Caribbean", the official statement of CWI reads.

The post was shared on the social media platform on March 5, and the India vs West Indies match was on March 1. Despite the assurance from the cricket board, Akeal Hosein seeks help from the footballer, which reflects how the players are frustrated with the matters.

Akeal Hosein and Darren Sammy expressed their frustration

"At this point, I’m better off asking Cristiano [Ronaldo] to send the [jet] and come rescue me yes", Akeal Hosain wrote this on his 'X' account.

West Indies head coach Darren Sammy is also not happy with the present scenario. Like Hosein, Sammy also expressed his frustration through an 'X' post. He simply wrote, "I just wanna go home."

After the Grand Finale of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to be held on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, many players will start their preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League season (IPL).

Some of the West Indies players have reportedly started their preparations without waiting for the return flight. Akeal Hosein will be a part of the IPL 2026 campaign with the Chennai Super Kings.

The tournament is expected to start later this month. While some of the players have initiated training, Akeal Hosein wishes to go home first before starting preparations for the IPL 2026 tournament.
