Pakistan's white-ball captain Babar Azam might not be going through the best of times but he is slowly returning to form. Babar is currently playing in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

During the fourth match of the tournament between Markhors and Stallions, Babar Azam was in a devastating mood while batting in the second innings. Playing for Stallions, Babar came in to bat early at No. 3 after the fall of the wicket of the opener Yasir Khan.

Fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani came to bowl the 8th over of the innings and the first ball was a dot ball. That was the silence before the storm as Babar was going to do something spectacular in the next five balls.

The star Pakistan batter pulled the second ball of the over for a four towards the midwicket fence. The ball was slightly short of a length and Babar was not going to miss out given the fielding restrictions.

Babar Azam did not stop here and cheekily glided the next ball for a four past the slip fielder. The next ball was a short and wide one and Babar placed it perfectly past the point fielder for a four. He was also helped by the misfield at the third man region.

The 29-year-old was more authoritative in the next ball as he slashed a cut through the ring of fielders on the offside to find his fourth boundary in a row. Dahani tried to bowl a short ball again in the next ball but Babar easily thumped him over the midwicket fence for his fifth four in a row.

The over went for 20 runs and Shahnawaz Dahani did not get another over in the match. It was another example of Babar Azam's class and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the star Pakistan batter's superlative effort.

Babar Azam looked all set to play a big innings and it seemed like Stallions would chase the target comfortably. However, his innings was cut short by the legspinner Zahid Mahmood. Babar was dismissed for a run-a-ball 45 on a pitch where the other batters struggled for runs. He smashed 8 fours during his knock.

Markhors beat Stallions to move to the top

Meanwhile, the match was a low-scoring one and Markhors emerged victorious. Earlier, Markhors skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and elected to bat first.

They scored 231 runs in the first innings on the back of fifties from Iftikhar Ahmed and Salman Agha. Left-arm seamer Jahandad Khan finished with 4-49 while the left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz picked up 3 wickets.

In reply, Stallions lost a wicket early but Babar Azam looked to take them to the target. However, the Markhors spinners came to the party and turned the game around.

Zahid Mahmood finished with 5-18 while Salman Agha also picked up 3 wickets. Apart from Babar Azam and Shan Masood, no other batter in the Stallions line-up could reach the double-digit score.
