Former India wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has dropped a massive update on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability in the upcoming three-match ODI series against the England National Cricket Team. Karthik believes that Bumrah might miss one game for the India National Cricket Team due to the busy schedule of cricket.

India will be turning up against England for the first ODI match on Tuesday, and Dinesh Karthik believes that Jasprit Bumrah will be missing the second ODI, which is scheduled on Thursday, July 16, due to workload management.

Dinesh Karthik provides massive update on Jasprit Bumrah's availability

Speaking on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability, Dinesh Karthik stated on Sky Sports, he said that with the speedster in the side, the Men in Blue will be looking to dominate the series and even win it as well, and he should play all three matches.

Dinesh Karthik said, "With Bumrah back, India will fancy a strong ODI series. He should ideally play all three ODIs and that will be a check for his body as well. Though I won't be surprised if he just plays on the 14th and 19th and gives a skip on 16th if he's body is not completely ready."

When did Jasprit Bumrah last play an ODI?

Jasprit Bumrah returned to the ODI squad for the first time since the 2023 World Cup Final, which was held on November 19 against Australia. Since then, he has not played a single ODI match, as he was mainly injured. He was also rested for the T20I series against Ireland and England.

Bumrah's return is a positive sign for the side, as he was rested deliberately as part of a workload management strategy by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), aiming to keep him fresh for Test cricket and prepare him for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

He has taken a total of 9 wickets in 4 One Day Internationals against England in England. His standout performance was an iconic 6 for 19 at The Oval in July 2022, which is also his best bowling figures in the 50-over format.

The speedster returns alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, marking the end of a 968-day gap since the iconic trio last played together in the 50-over format. Karthik also spoke about Rohit and Kohli in the video.

Dinesh Karthik drops update on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's future

Karthik feels that the 2027 ODI World Cup would be Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's final competition for Team India in their glorious careers. The iconic tandem has already retired from Tests and T20Is, and for the last year, they have only played 50-over cricket.

"Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will surely have their last-ever stint in England in this series. The 2027 World Cup will be the last tournament they play in the Blues for India. But with these two, India will definitely have better adaptability during the ODI series, something that was missing in the T20Is," said Karthik

Virat Kohli missed the last ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury he picked during the IPL 2026 final. Rohit Sharma played the series and managed to score a half-century and looked in good touch.
