Royal Challengers Bangalore have been the perennial underachievers in the IPL. Despite getting together a strong squad almost every season, they have failed to win the much-coveted IPL title. In the last season, they finished fifth and lost yet another opportunity to make it to the final despite ringing together a competitive squad.

The side will look to rope in an experienced international cricketer to replace Virat Kohli as the skipper of the side. Kohli, however, as per his commitment will continue to play as a player in the side. RCB will continue its search for the elusive IPL title with the league heading into its 15th season.

Meanwhile, in this article, we will take a look at five lesser-known players to have played for the franchise.

5 Lesser-Known Players You Didn’t Know Have Played For Royal Challengers Bangalore

Misbah Ul-Haq

Not many might know that the former Pakistan skipper was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in the inaugural IPL season. He only played eight games for the franchise but was not able to make a mark. Misbah then fell out of favour never to get a game for the franchise. Arguably the most successful captain to have led Pakistan, Misbah ul Haq was an understated legend of Pakistan cricket.

The former Indian cricketer started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2008 and then switched to Kings XI Punjab in 2010. Kaif played for the RCB in the 2011 and 2012 seasons of the IPL. In 9 matches, he could only manage 55 runs at a meagre average of 14 with a strike rate of around 100.

Eoin Morgan

The ex-KKR skipper once played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, he did not have a very fruitful time with RCB and was forced to make a move to Kolkata Knight Riders and then to Sunrisers Hyderabad before KKR resigned him again in IPL 2020. For RCB however, Morgan played just six games scoring 35 runs at an average of 11.67.

The franchise bagged the West Indian legend in the 2008 season and played just three games for the franchise. His unorthodox style of play was not enough to attract the attention of the Royal Challengers Banglore franchise. That remains his only IPL season. Chanderpaul, a legend that he was in Test and ODIs, did not quite have it to make a mark in T20 cricket.

Nathan Bracken

Bracken was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore after his successful stint at the T20 World Cup 2007. He was one of the marquee signings for Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2008 but had to be unfortunately ruled out with an injury. He never played another IPL season but went on to become one of the most successful bowlers for Australia.
