Recently, Indian player Rishabh Pant met with a severe road accident while driving his car. The wicketkeeper-batsman is admitted to hospital and BCCI is looking after his treatment. Rishabh Pant might take a few months to return to the field.

Fans are hoping for Pant’s fabulous comeback to the Indian team. There were some players who met with serious road accidents in the past. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi is a former Indian cricketer. In 1961, he met with a road accident at the age of 20. His car met with a head-on collision with another vehicle. Pataudi was taken to the hospital.

He had badly injured his right eye. He lost his vision in that eye. However, Pataudi did not stop playing cricket and went on to become India’s captain in the future. He played 46 Test matches for India.

4. Karun Nair

Karun Nair is an Indian cricketer who holds the record for smashing a triple century in Tests. In 2016, Nair suffered a big accident while vacationing in Kerala. He was going to visit a temple while crossing the river with a boat.

However, the boat met with an accident. He had to swim some distance and was later rescued by villagers. Several deaths also occurred in the mishap. However, Nair returned to cricket after the accident and also played in Indian Premier League.

3. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami was injured in a road accident in March 2018. While travelling from Dehradun to New Delhi, Shami’s car met with an accident. The Indian pacer sustained some head injuries in the incident.

However, Shami recovered from the injuries and made a fabulous comeback to the national team. Shami has played 60 Tests, 82 ODIs, and 93 T20Is so far and picked about 392 wickets international wickets.

2. Oshane Thomas

Oshane Thomas is another player who met with a deadly accident but later made a comeback to the team. In February 2020, Thomas met with a severe car accident in Jamaica. His car overturned in the accident and he was rushed to the hospital.

However, the West Indies pacer later returned to the field and also played for West Indies national team. So far, he has played 20 ODIs and as many T20Is for West Indies and picked 48 wickets for the team.

1. Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran is another player on this list. The West Indies skipper met with a road accident at the age of 19 in January 2015 in Trinidad. He was admitted to the hospital and underwent two leg surgeries.

He injured his ankle and knee of the left leg. Later, Pooran recovered and made a fabulous comeback to the national team. He is the current skipper of West Indies in ODIs and T20Is and has played 52 ODIs and 72 T20Is for the team.
