India To Kick Off Their Campaign Against Australia In The Games

Few of the visas came in today but they are still six left for processing including three players and three players’ support staff,” an IOA source told PTI.

“The remaining should come by tomorrow. We have very little control over the process anyway. There is a summer rush and UK visas are taking time.”

The kits have not yet arrived in Bengaluru, but an IOA official has confirmed that they would be supplied by Saturday.

The BCCI has announced a 15-man squad for the Games, which will begin on July 28. India will kick off their campaign on July 29 against Australia before facing Pakistan on July 31.

A support crew of eight people was also appointed, along with three reserve players.

Earlier Indian team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana said that India is aiming to win the Gold and that they do not consider Australia as the favourites because in T20 cricket anyone can beat anyone on a given day.

Earlier it was reported that a member of the Indian side has tested positive for Covid-19.
