6,6,6,6! Rinku Singh smashes four sixes against Digvesh Rathi in LSG vs KKR clash
PC: X

Kolkata Knight Riders started their eighth game after a winning outing against the Rajasthan Royals in the last game in a humiliating fashion, losing too many of their wickets early into the game. The batters failed to counter Mohsin Khan and had lost half of the team within the first 11 overs.

After a slow start to their innings, Rinku, who held the nerve in that trembling KKR batting order, gave it back to the LSG bowlers in the final three overs as he smashed some runs off Mohammed Shami and especially targeted Digvesh Rathi at the death.

Rinku Singh wreaks havoc at the Ekana as he smashes 4 sixes off Digvesh Rathi's final over

Rinku Singh has once again shown glimpses of his sheer form this time at the Ekana as he threatened to take his own former IPL record back from 2023. He scores 24 runs off four balls from Digvesh Rathi, who was smashed for consecutive sixes in a row.

Rinku managed to score more than 50% of the team's overall runs and has scored 155 runs by the end of their 20 overs and scored a hell of a lot of runs in the final fifty-plus partnership alongside Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Sunil Narine.

Rinku backed his match winning half century from the previous innings and went on to score 81 runs in this match as well, while the team managed to score only 155 runs. Cameron Green was the second highest scorer with 34 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders collapse under pressure; What changes are necessary to bounce back

The Kolkata Knight Riders biggest concern has been their string of low scores in the powerplay. With Knight Riders still under massive pressure, they should consider Rachin Ravindra the New Zealand all-rounder at the top of the order.

Secondly, Tejasvi Dahiya the wicket-keeper batter could replace Ramandeep Singh in the KKR batting order. This could add some reliability to the batting order. On the other hand, Sunil Narine could finally be moved back to the top to add that spice to the powerplay which KKR have lacked throught this season.

The middle order that has struggled way to much could be made dependable with the addition of players like Manish Pandey or Rahul Tripathi who are experienced campaigners in the IPL. The bowling now looks more sorted and would be strengthened with the return of Matheesha Pathirana.

KKR are on a must-win mission to keep their playoff hopes alive

Rinku Singh's record smashing innings has come out as a rescue innings for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The team has seven matches left to be played this season and needs to win atleast 6 of these games to keep their hopes for qualification alive.

However, Kolkata will have to defend that small total in front of the LSG batters who despite being big names have lacked form in this edition of the competition. Despite all they would need an extraordinary bowling performance from their bowlers to secure those 2 points in this match.
