The Ranveer Singh-starrer 83′ will finally release on December 25 after being pushed back multiple times owing to the Covid outbreak. The film is based on Kapil Dev‘s legendary World Cup-winning team of 1983 which put India on the world map of Cricket.
The movie was earlier set to be released in the month of June 2021. Unfortunately, the decision to cancel the scheduled date was made after the second wave of Covid stormed India in March-April. Although the virus hasn’t been fully dealt with, things are almost back to normal.
Movie theatres were given permission to open after a majority of the population was vaccinated. Most of the states will function at full capacity and so the producers of the movie have finalized the release date on Christmas.
Ranveer Singh will play the role of Kapil in the movie. It will be released in five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The actor took to Twitter where he made the announcement. “It’s time…… 83 IN CINEMAS THIS CHRISTMAS. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam #Thisis83,” the caption for the post said.

The movie 83′ will see Deepika Padukone play Ranveer Singh’s on-screen wife
The cast of the movie includes famous actress, Deepika Padukone, in the role of Ranveer Singh’s character’s wife. Veteran actors, Amrish Puri and Boman Irani are also playing major roles in the film. The movie is directed by Kabir Khan and produced in a joint venture by Padukone, Sajid Nadiadwala, and two others.
The shooting for the movie began in England back in May 2019. It was finished after a few months and the release was set for April 2020. It was then shifted to December 25, 2020, because of the COVID outbreak. Another delay was caused because of the second outbreak but it will finally hit the theatres this Christmas.
