A Senior India National Cricket Team player wants former Indian speedster Ajit Agarkar to become the bowling coach of the Indian team at least till the 2023 One Day International World Cup, reported TOI.

After the exit of Bharat Arun from the India National Cricket Team following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 former Indian seamer Paras Mhambrey was appointed as the new bowling coach of the Indian team.

Mhambrey had secured a Level-3 coaching diploma from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and before being appointed as India’s bowling coach in November 2021 he had been the coach of Bengal, Maharashtra, Baroda and Vidarbha.

Also, he had spent four years with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an assistant coach and he was the bowling coach of the India A team and the U19 Indian cricket team.

The right-arm pacer Ajit Agarkar has played 26 Tests, 191 One Day Internationals and 4 T20 Internationals for India National Cricket Team. He has picked 58 Test wickets, 288 One Day International wickets and 3 T20 International wickets in his successful career.

According to a report in TOI, a reliable source has told that a senior Indian player, who plays a big role in the decision-making process is very keen to have former speedster Ajit Agarkar, who is currently a TV commentator, as bowling coach till 2023 ODI World Cup.

“The senior player, who plays a vital role in decision-making in Indian cricket now, wants an experienced hand like Agarkar guiding the bowlers till the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“Mhambrey is a good bowling coach and can look after budding bowlers at India A, India Under-19 and at pacers the National Cricket Academy,” revealed the reliable source.
