Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra has felt that Rahul Dravid is not going to mark an entry in the list of contenders to become the Indian coach as of now. Dravid travelled with the Indian limited-overs side to Sri Lanka for the three-match ODI and T20 series and so far, he has done tremendously well as expected.
It has opened up opportunities to replace Ravi Shastri who is with the Indian Test team in the UK as the current coach and Shastri’ tenure is expected to terminate after the T20 Worldcup 2021. Rahul Dravid has been taking care of the NCA at the moment, and he was the former coach of the Indian U-19 team as well as for India-A squads.

Aakash Chopra Feels Dravid Could Be The Only Competition For Ravi Shastri
Aakash Chopra felt that Rahul Dravid could be the only competition for the present Indian coach Ravi Shastri and the latter is going to win hands down if any other show up. He also added that he doesn’t see Rahul Dravid desperately looking to become the next Indian coach knowing him personally.
“I don’t think Rahul Dravid is going to put his name on the list. There can be just one competition if Rahul says he wants to be India’s coach. If he wants, then it will be a strong fight.
“But if Dravid doesn’t put his name, whoever puts his name on that list, he will not be able to stand in front of Ravi Shastri, that is what I believe but then we shall find out,” Aakash Chopra stated on his Youtube Channel.

“I Don’t See A Change In The Offing” – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra also felt that Ravi Shastri will continue as head coach of the Indian team despite all the applications for the post. He reminded the two back to back big ICC tournaments coming up in two successive years and explained that Ravi Shastri has done well to reach the World Test Championship finals this year.
“I don’t think there is going to be any change. I feel Ravi Shastri will continue. Just because there is a process, applications will be invited, there will be some recce. I don’t see a change in the offing, to be very honest.”
“There is another T20 World Cup within a year of this T20 World Cup and there is a 50-50 World Cup a year after that. You have reached the World Test Championship final and the team is doing alright, then why to change,” he added.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is yet to win a major tournament as a captain and he will be looking to work on that aspect for sure.
