Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra felt that Indian opener, KL Rahul, will likely go for more than 20 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction if there is no cap on a player’s salary.
Rahul is reportedly parting ways with Punjab Kings (PBKS) ahead of next year’s major reshuffle. If he does enter the auction pool, he will attract a lot of attention since he’s a highly capable batsman who can also function as a captain.
Both Lucknow and Ahmedabad, the two new franchises to be added for the next season, will have their eyes set on the 29-year-old Rahul. As per Chopra, he might even go for a price of more than 20 crores, considering there is no limit on spending.
“If KL Rahul ends up in the auction…and if the draft system doesn’t put a ceiling on a player’s salary… he will easily be the most expensive player in the upcoming auction. 20 Crore +.” Chopra said on his Twitter account.
“Rohit Sharma made an error of not bowling Venkatesh Iyer” – Aakash Chopra
After the first T20I, Aakash Chopra had said that newly appointed full-time skipper, Rohit Sharma, missed a trick by not testing Venkatesh Iyer against New Zealand. The all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh is being looked at as a potential replacement for Hardik Pandya.
“The Indian team said they need a fast-bowling all-rounder, so they played Venkatesh Iyer at six. But they didn’t get him to bowl. I will say it’s a rare error on Rohit Sharma’s part. Generally, his captaincy is perfect, but it just left me a little befuddled,” Chopra mentioned.
At the moment, India and New Zealand are playing the second T20I in Ranchi where India has been set a target of 154.
