Royal Challengers Bangalore’s vice-captain AB de Villiers feels that teams who have good records only at home grounds will be at advantage in IPL 2021. The 14th edition of the tournament, IPL 2021, has been planned in such a way that every match will be played at a neutral venue. Therefore, no team will get the home advantage in any of the games.

BCCI has selected 6 venues to host all the matches in IPL 2021. Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai are the six venues that are going to host all the matches of IPL 2021. A total of 56 matches will be played during the group stage of IPL 2021.

The playoffs and final will be played a Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and since no team has its home ground in Ahmedabad, the playoffs and finals will also not give any home advantage to any team in IPL 2021.

Neutral Venues Balances Out The Tournament: AB de Villiers

In a video posted by Royal Challengers Bangalore on social media, AB de Villiers said the teams who have made home grounds as fortress will be at disadvantage in IPL 2021. He also said that neutral venues balance out the tournament.

“I think it balances out the tournament. It is the same for every team, no one has home games and it really puts emphasis on adapting to different conditions. Every game you play, conditions will be different.

“The wickets will get older, you will play a different team on the same ground, it is interesting but it is the same for everyone. The teams who have made home grounds as fortress will be at a disadvantage. The best team will come out on top,” AB de Villiers said in the video.

The former South Africa cricketer also said that winning the IPL trophy is part of the goals for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“You want to win the trophy, I would love to win the IPL. I do not know how we will react if we win the trophy one day. It is getting boring to talk about, the minute you win the trophy, you look back and realise there are certain things that are more important than winning the trophy.

“Being part of the IPL, it is the greatest tournament in the world. We want to win the trophy and that is part of the goals,” AB de Villiers further said.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has made it to the finals of IPL three times but has failed to win the title. Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are the other two teams who haven’t won any IPL titles so far. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers have won two matches in IPL 2021 and are placed on the 2nd spot in the points table.

The Virat Kohli-led side has 4 points from 2 matches. RCB will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game on April 18 (Sunday). The match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
