India and Zimbabwe are set to battle with each other in a T20I series after the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The India vs Zimbabwe T20I series will witness five encounters between both sides.

The first IND vs ZIM clash takes place on Saturday, July 6. The venue of the match is Harare Sports Club in Harare. The next four games will be played over almost two weeks at the same venue.

The India vs Zimbabwe 5th and final T20I will be played on Sunday, July 14. T20I skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy Hardik Pandya have been rested for the series.

Shubman Gill will lead a young squad in the series. BCCI announced the squad a few days ago. Below we take a glance at Best India playing 11 for Zimbabwe T20Is.

India squad for Zimbabwe T20Is: Ꮪhubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande.

Best India Playing 11 for Zimbabwe T20Is

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Rutraj Gaikwad should be the opener for India against Zimbabwe. Gaikwad has had a good experience by batting as an opener for CSK for the last few years in IPL. He also finished as the second-highest run-getter in this season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal should be the other opener for the side as he is also part of the ongoing World Cup. The left-handed batsman scored a century in IPL 2024 and has been a marvelous opener across all three formats.

Shubman Gill (C)

Shubman Gill is the captain of India for the T20I series against Zimbabwe and will lead the side in the tournament. He was not picked as one of the openers for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but will aim for a comeback under his captaincy in the shortest format.

He can take the one-down position with Gaikwad and Jaiswal as openers. Notably, Gill is a patient batter and batting at one-down can help him to play more deliveries before firing.

Sanju Samson (WK)

Sanju Samson should be the wicketkeeper for the Indian team as he has a lot of experience and can also bat in the top or middle-order. Samson did a stupendous job as a skipper in IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals.

Rinku Singh

When we talk about finishers, there is unarguably no better batter than Rinku Singh. The left-handed batsman can smash Zimbabwe bowlers out of the park as he is an expert at playing both spin and pace.

Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag was another hard-hitting batter who impressed with his batting in IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals. His consistent scores in the lower order helped Rajasthan Royals to win many games. Parag can also handle the pressure very well.

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar can be a good choice of spin all-rounder. If there is a need, the right-arm spinner can bowl a few overs. The left-hander can also smash big sixes down the order which makes him a useful choice in the lower-order.

Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi will be the best spinner in India's playing 11 as the right-arm spinner has been consistent over the last few years in the shortest format. He also gave a decent show in the Indian Premier League season this year.

Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar was like a wildfire in the Indian team; he entered the squad last year and became a popular choice for all three formats due to his hard work and consistency. Kumar has been consistent in ODIs, Tests, T20Is, and even IPL and has gained a lot of experience in just two years. He will be a crucial member of the pace attack.

Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan has been part of the national side for the last few years but has also lost a lot of field time due to injuries. However, the right-arm pacer made a strong comeback in IPL 2024 and was the top wicket-taker for Rajasthan Royals. He scared the hell out of opposition batters with his pace attack.

Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed has been a consistent performer for Delhi Capitals in the last two or three seasons of IPL. Adding him into the playing 11 against Zimbabwe will add more variation to the pace attack as Khaleel is a left-arm seamer and is a capped player.
