A Top-Class Ton and a Proper Statement - Abhishek Sharma Lauds Travis Head
Usman Khawaja couldn’t open due to back stiffness. Travis Head was promoted to begin the chase with debutant Jake Weatherald. Head tore into England’s bowling and turned the chase into a one-sided assault on a challenging batting surface.
Head’s fearless batting also grabbed attention across the cricket world. Among those reacting was his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Abhishek Sharma. After stumps, the Indian T20I opener called the century “effortless” and described it as a powerful statement from the Australian star.
"When Trav gets going, it looks effortless. A top-class ton and a proper statement," Abhishek wrote on his Instagram story.

Little Bit Shell-Shocked, It Was Pretty Phenomenal From Head - Ben Stokes
Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, known for forming one of the IPL’s most explosive opening partnerships, have built a reputation for tearing through powerplays with their high-octane scoring.
While most batters struggled on the lively surface, Head seemed to be batting on a different pitch altogether. The left-handed batter reached his half-century in just 36 balls. He also crossed the 4,000-run milestone in Test cricket, taking his tally to 4,107 runs in 61 Tests at an average above 42.
Following the assault, England skipper Ben Stokes admitted his side was “a bit shell-shocked,” calling Head’s innings nothing short of phenomenal.
“Little bit shell-shocked, it was pretty phenomenal from Head," Stokes said. “It’s pretty raw, pretty emotional, but that was some knock.
Travis Head Blasted His Century in Just 69 Balls, the Fastest Hundred Ever...
Travis blasted his century in just 69 balls, the fastest hundred ever scored in the fourth innings of a Test match.
He recorded the third-fastest hundred for Australia, behind Adam Gilchrist (57 balls) and Jack Gregory (67 balls). David Warner also scored a 69-ball century at the WACA in 2012.
Head also equalled Warner’s record for the quickest century ever made by a Test opener. Notably, the southpaw had scored 152 runs at the Gabba during the Ashes 2021-22 opener.
The Men in Yellow took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match Test series. Following the victory, Australia will take on England, led by Ben Stokes, in the second Test at the Gabba from December 4 to 8.
