Afghanistan were supposed to tour Zimbabwe this month but the limited-overs series was postponed as the hosts failed to make arrangements for the necessary DRS system.
Afghanistan requested us that they would like to have a conditioning camp: BCB
The Afghanistan team will arrive on February 12 and train in Sylhet before travelling to Chattogram, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a statement. The Bangladesh board also confirmed that they will have DRS for white-ball matches against Afghanistan.
“Afghanistan requested us that they would like to have a conditioning camp and we have planned to host the conditioning camp in Sylhet. The tentative date of their arrival in Dhaka is February 12,” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz.
“We will have DRS during the home series against Afghanistan. We are planning to introduce DRS in the last leg of BPL (scheduled in Dhaka from February 11). The DRS equipments have already arrived in Dhaka and now we are waiting for customs clearance,” he added.
BCB is unsure about allowing fans in the stadium for Afghanistan matches
BCB is not sure whether fans will be allowed inside the stadiums as they wait for government directives.
“We have not taken any final decision yet (about fans in the stadium). We will follow the government’s guidelines regarding the matter and if the government asks us to follow the same guidelines (the one for BPL) we will do it accordingly,” Nizamuddin said.
The first ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on February 23.
All three ODI matches will be staged at the same venue while the two T20 International matches will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
