After T20 WC success, Jay Shah makes a bold Olympic gold prediction for Indian cricket team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has made a huge statement about the Indian cricket team's chances in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. In 2028, cricket will make a historic appearance in the Olympic games after 128 years.

The 2028 Olympic Games will be played in Los Angeles, USA. The International Olympic Council (IOC) approved the inclusion of cricket among the five games in the 2028 LA Olympic games.

Jay Shah gives a bold statement on the Indian cricket team's chances in the LA 2028 Olympics

During a chat with renowned sports journalist Boria Majumdar, Jay Shah expected India to win two medals in cricket in the Los Angeles Olympic Games 2028. Shah expects both Indian men's and women's teams to bring the medals home. Boria Majumdar revealed the whole conversation between him and Jay Shah.

“How many medals do you think we can win this time?” Shah asked Boria as quoted by Revsportz.

“At Los Angeles in 2028, cricket will add two medals to our tally. I expect the women and men’s team to have a shot at gold," Shah told Boria Majumdar.

Shah was present at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. He later added that he wanted to see an Indian win a medal at the Paris Olympics before he left.

“I leave in a day but would want to see an Indian win. It just makes you so very proud of who you are and gives you hope that India can do it on the big stage. I was keen to promote cricket here in Paris, and with its inclusion in Los Angeles, it should help the Indian cause,” said Shah.

India a probable medal contender in Cricket in LA 2028 Olympics

India is currently competing in the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian contingent consists of 117 athletes who are competing in various disciplines across sports.

With cricket's inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, India's chances of winning a medal in the Olympics have been seriously bolstered. India is a well-known powerhouse in the game of cricket and is among the top teams in the sport. Indian men's cricket team is the most followed team in the world of cricket. 

Cricket will be played in the T20 version in the LA 2028 Olympics. ICC has long been trying to include cricket in the Olympic games which would help the game gain more popularity.
