Ajinkya Rahane Did A Fabulous Job In BGT 2020-21, The Way He Handled The Team Was Amazing - Umesh Yadav

Indian pace bowler Umesh Yadav credited the 34-year-old cricketer, Ajinkya Rahane, for helping the Indian team make a comeback after the debacle in the Adelaide Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 series.
India kept losing players to injury and the best batter in the team, Virat Kohli, had also taken paternity leave. However, they fought through all the obstacles and came out on top courtesy of spirited team performance. Speaking about the series, Umesh told TOI:
“Ajinkya was just amazing. He did a fabulous job there [in Australia]. The way he handled the team was amazing. (Some) senior players weren’t there. After the first game, Virat came back home. After the second game, I got injured. Other players were getting injured, but Rahane stayed positive. That was the best part.”
“He was playing his third Test in the last Test match. Rahane did a really great job. He gave his all in that series. The way he brought the team together, motivated the players, and took every single player forward was commendable. He backed every single player. He played ‘Dil se’.”
“After the second Test, everything changed” – Umesh Yadav
The second Test in Melbourne was where the Indian team began the comeback. Rahane led from the front with a spectacular century while the bowling attack did the rest. From there on, the atmosphere in the dressing room changed dramatically, as per Umesh.

“After losing the first Test and that too by a huge margin, it was difficult for the team to make a comeback. But the way Rahane led the team and injected confidence in the team was amazing and incredible to see. He said ‘we are here to win.’ After the second Test, everything changed. Everyone was positive and pumped up,” Umesh added.
