Jasprit Bumrah reveals how India adapted to Kanpur pitch vs Bangladesh
After India completed a famous win, Jasprit Bumrah was relieved and credited both the batters and the bowlers for showing the will to produce a result in just two days. He reckoned that the team passed their fitness tests after producing a spirited performance in hot conditions.
"It feels really good. I don't think about all those adjectives (when asked about being called a magician). It is really good to get this win, we had lost a couple of days. The way we batted yesterday and it was a test for our fitness as well as you see how hot the weather is, bowling every day and trying to create an impact, a really special win," Bumrah said after the match.
The right-arm fast bowler feels it is important to use the experience but it's not easy to adapt to different surfaces. He revealed how the bowlers adapted quickly to the Kanpur pitch after bowling in helpful conditions in Chennai.
"You use your experience but it is easier said than done, because you have played a lot of cricket and played on different surfaces you find solutions, this wicket was completely different to what we got in Chennai, so quickly communicated with the others and tried to find the best option," he said.
Jasprit Bumrah speaks on bowling in difficult conditions
Jasprit Bumrah also spoke about the challenges of bowling in unfavorable conditions and claimed that he likes being in such battles. He elaborated on how he used the ball to his best effect in order to produce game-changing spells.
"I like that challenge when you go against your nature, conditions are not favourable, the wicket is not favourable, how do you get answers, all of these battles I really like. We have played a lot of cricket in India, you understand the nature of the wicket and the SG ball sometimes reverses as well but sometimes because of the humidity you are not able to keep the ball dry, so you find solutions and discuss it with other players as well," Jasprit Bumrah explained.
Jasprit Bumrah found some reverse swing on the fifth day as he picked up 3 wickets in Bangladesh's second innings. His bowling figures read 3-17 in 10 overs which shows the control with which he bowled despite the conditions not much favorable.
Jasprit Bumrah about Akash Deep's growth
Jasprit Bumrah also spoke about Akash Deep's bowling in the series and revealed the conversation between the two fast bowlers. He mentioned that Akash bowls with a lot of heart and brings energy while bowling.
"He (Akash Deep) comes up to me quite a lot before a spell and asks me what is happening and what should I do, we have had a lot of interesting conversations, the energy he brings on the ball, he gives his best on the field and when he's bowling, he has got a lot of heart and that is a good sign for us going forward. Hopefully, he goes from strength to strength," Bumrah added.
Akash Deep's bowling was one of the biggest positives for India in this series. He has shown his ability to bowl testing spells, especially with the new ball, and has established himself among the top 3-4 fast bowlers in Tests for India currently.
India will play a five-match Test series against Australia late this year and Akash Deep can play a big role during that series. He has the pace and also gets good bounce. More importantly, he can consistently bowl tight lines to deny the batters easy runs.
