“All Love, No Hatred” – Chintan Gaja Poses With Venkatesh Iyer After Ugly Incident In Duleep Trophy Game

The West Zone medium-pace bowler Chintan Gaja has shared a picture with the Central Zone all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer after the ugly incident in the Duleep Trophy fixture between the teams on Friday, 16 September.

During the Duleep Trophy game between the West Zone and the Central Zone on Friday, 16 September at the SNR College Cricket Ground, an ugly incident took place.

Venkatesh Iyer, who is representing Central Zone in the inter-zonal competition, went off to the mark with a six off bowler Chintan Gaja. Next ball, Iyer played it right back to the bowler and Gaja picked the ball and threw it back at Iyer in anger, hitting the batter on the head and Iyer immediately collapsed.

Soon ambulance was called in the middle of the pitch and the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder was taken to the hospital for precautionary medical checks.

After the incident, Gaja faced heavy backlash and many called for his suspension. However, it looks like everything is now sorted out between the players and they have decided to move on as Gaja posted a picture with Iyer on his official Instagram handle. He captioned the post “All Love no hatred”.

Speaking to Cricbuzz after the incident, Iyer asserted that he is absolutely fine.

“I was hit below my ear. It was a shock initially but I am absolutely fine,” Iyer told Cricbuzz from Coimbatore. 

When asked whether he will be able to play the second innings. He stated:

“I don’t know, I have been kept under 24-hour observation. I will have to see how things go.”

Notably, Iyer did come out to bat in the first innings even after getting retired hurt, but was able to score only 14 runs off 9 balls before being dismissed by Tanush Kotian.

Also, a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official had told Cricbuzz that the Indian all-rounder Iyer was fine after the incident.
