Former Pakistan opener Ramiz Raja has heaped praises on Australia’s stellar exhibition of fast bowling display that won them the first Test against India in Adelaide. Australia skittled India to their lowest score in Test cricket and won by eight wickets to take the lead in the four-match series. According to Ramiz Raja, the fact that Virat Kohli could not score is a testament to Australia’s excellence.

Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood’s 18 overs combined for nine wickets between them to blow away India for 36 on the third day of the opening Test. The tight and probing line and lengths bowled by the two speedsters were challenging to get away for the Indian batsmen. As a result, not even one Indian batsmen managed to reach double figures and the hosts chased 90 successfully with eight wickets to spare.

Ramiz Raja gave full credit to the Australian bowlers, who are tall and managed to bowl the hard lengths, gaining enough movement to take the outside edges. The former Pakistan cricketer highlighted that Australia’s bowlers bowled in lengths which the batsmen could not play in the front or back foot.

“All the credit will have to be given to the Australian bowlers. They are all tall bowlers; they bowled the hard lengths, and the ball moved enough to take the outside edge of the bat. They bowled at the length where you couldn’t play the ball on the front foot or the back foot. And they had problems against bounce,” Ramiz told in his Youtube channel.

The 58-year old further said that the Australian conditions could challenge most players’ DNA since their upbringing is mostly on batting or lifeless pitches without the ability to tackle bounce and movement. Ramiz Raja believes that if India had one more player like Virat Kohli; however, the Indian captain’s failure speaks more of Australia bowlers.

“The Australian conditions challenge your DNA. You would have not played much cricket in such conditions. Your upbringing as a cricketer is on dead pitches from a batting point of view. So you don’t have enough technicalities to tackle the bounce and movement. If you have one or two more players like Virat Kohli, then you could have survived. But Virat Kohli’s failure suggests that Australia bowled very well,” he added.
