Australia Women's National Cricket Team skipper Alyssa Healy isn't keen to play the Women's T20 World 2024 in Bangladesh. She said that playing in the tournament in the Asian country would be the wrong thing to do because of the conditions there.

The Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to start on October 3 in Bangladesh. But the ongoing turmoil in the country has put the tournament under serious scanner. Riots are going on in the country related to the anti-government agitations, and it has also seen a lot of people getting killed as well.

This has raised many eyebrows related to the future of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh. There have been several reports that the tournament will be moved out of the country. India emerged as a prime place to stage the tournament, but BCCI Secretary Jay Shah declined it categorically.

After that, the United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe emerged as the two front-runners to host the tournament. There have been several reports which have claimed that the International Cricket Council will soon decide on the same. The giering body is expected to announce the decision on Tuesday, August 20.

Alyssa Healy has shown her disinterest in playing in the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh. She stated that staging the tournament would mean taking the resources away from the people in the country. She, however, stated that it would be the decision of the ICC. She explained (as quoted by Cricbuzz):

"I'd find it hard to fathom playing there [in Bangladesh] at the moment, as a human being, I feel like it might be the wrong thing to do. (That would be) taking resources away from a country that is struggling. They need everyone they can get in there to help people that are dying. There are bigger factors at play than putting a cricket tournament on in Bangladesh at the moment ... but I'll leave it to the ICC to work out."

We're well prepared for whatever is thrown at us - Alyssa Healy

Alyssa Healy further talked about Australia's preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024. She said that change in the venue won't affect their training as they are well prepared. Elaborating on the same, she said:

"Going there and getting used to those conditions and slow-turning wickets has probably put us in a good place. It's more about what our team looks like, and what people are working on individually headed into a World Cup on the subcontinent," Alyssa Healy opined.

"Whether it is in Bangladesh or it's not in Bangladesh, I don't think it affects us greatly with the make-up of what we've got. We're well prepared for whatever is thrown at us."

Australia are the defending champions and would be hoping to continue their dominance in the tournament, having won the title six times. They would be high on confidence and would want to win their 7th title.
