American Premier League Launched In New York; 7 Teams Set To Take Part In Inaugural Edition

United States of America is all set to get its own cricket premier league. The American Premier League has been launched and the inaugural edition of the league will be played from 19th December to 31st December 2023.

The American Premier League has been launched following the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics 2028, set to take place in Los Angeles. The tournament has been approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well as the Cricket Board of the United States of America.

The American Premier League will be played in T20 format and a total of seven teams in Premium Indians, Premium Paks, Premium Aussies, Premium Afghans, Premium Windies, Premium Americans, and Premium Canadians will take part in it. The league will be played at Moosa Cricket Stadium in Texas.

The tournament will be broadcast live on Television & OTT platforms in India, Australia, the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean & MENA countries. Apart from this, Marron Media has bagged the rights of the league.

Founder of the American Premier League Jay Mir talked about the league and revealed that over 40 international cricketers will be part of the tournament. He also added that the league will add a milestone to cricket in the USA. He elaborated:

“American Premier League will prove to be a milestone in USA cricket, where opportunity meets talent. There are over forty international cricketers participating in the league.”

Former ICC Media manager Lara Richards also expressed her delight in the launching of the league. She stated that America is the new hotspot in world cricket. She explained:

“America is a new hotspot in world cricket, and we are very excited to be associated with American Premier League,” she concluded.

The American Premier League will be a great step to increase the popularity of cricket in the USA. Recently MLC also took place there and it had a great response there. Also with the Olympics being included in cricket, it’ll be a great opportunity for spectators in America, who are unfamiliar with the sport, to get used to it.

Also, local players from the USA will have great opportunities in the league. With International cricketers also set to take part in the league, it’ll help shape cricket better in America.
