Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, has taken yet another big step in his career. The youngster has made it to the South Zone squad for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy. The the inter-zonal 50-over competition is scheduled to start from July 24 in Puducherry.
The squad is made of the best performers from each south zone state. Arjun Tendulkar made it to the squad after impressing in domestic circuit as well as in this year’s Indian Premier League. Last year, he had decided to switch sides in domestic cricket and signed up with Goa after failing to get the chance in Mumbai.
And the move has paid off so far. Arjun Tendulkar made his debut for Goa in December last year and made an instant impact by scoring a century on his Ranji Trophy debut as he emulated his famous father’s feat. The left-arm pacer made a big impact in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s premier 50-over inter-state competition.
He finished the competition as Goa’s highest wicket-taker. Arjun picked up 8 wickets while maintaining an economy-rate of less than 5. The performance has helped him earn a spot in the South Zone squad. He will be a part of the pace attack that has the likes of Vidwath Kaverappa, Vyshak Vijaykumar along with V Koushik. With Arjun being a left-arm pacer, the South Zone attack will have more variety.
