The players have started the mind games ahead of the highly anticipated five-match Ashes 2023 series between England and Australia. Australian opening batter David Warner took a brutal dig at England’s pacer Stuart Broad and said that he has got to earn a selection in the playing XI, before troubling the Aussie batters.

Stuart Broad has a good record against David Warner in the longer format of the game. The right-arm pacer dismissed Warner on seven occasions during the 2019 Ashes series at home. The Southpaw scored only 95 runs with a dismal average of 9.50, including a best score of 61 runs.

Look To Score And Play In A Positive Way – David Warner

Speaking to The Age, David Warner said that he would play Stuart Broad with a positive approach in the upcoming marquee event.

“He’s got to get selected first. I don’t really have any plans, to be honest, so if he gets selected, then I’ll adjust when I’m out there,” David Warner said.

I Actually Felt Disrespected – David Warner

David Warner slammed Cricket Australia for not moving on from the ‘sandpapergate’ ball-tampering and said that he just wants to put it to bed. Notably, Warner, Steve Smith, and Cameron Bancroft served bans following the controversy in 2018.

“I wanted to put it to bed and they kept on just dragging it out and not giving answers. No one wanted to be accountable, no one wanted to make a decision. You have an administration where there seemed to be a lack of leadership,” he added:

“They could have nipped it in the bud straight away, but I’m getting a phone call day one, two, three of the Test matches and speaking to lawyers etc when I didn’t need to. I actually felt disrespected in the way that I wasn’t able to actually have a clear mind to play the game and concentrate on the game,” he concluded.

Ahead of the Ashes 2023, the Pat Cummins-led team will take on India in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final, which will be held at the Oval in London between June 7 and 11.
