Former England captain Eoin Morgan said that he had a conversation with fast bowler Jofra Archer after he was ruled out of the English summer. Eoin Moran extended his support for Jofra Archer and said that the pacer will miss an important summer for English cricket.

Jofra Archer has been going through the toughest phase of his career, with multiple injuries plaguing him since 2019. The right-arm pacer was ruled out of the much-awaited Ashes 2023 series against Australia at home due to a recurring stress fracture in his right elbow.

Former England captain Eoin Morgan said that he’s devastated for Jofra Archer and that it is a difficult phase for him.

“I’m devastated for him. He’s just spending some time away at the moment. Honestly, it couldn’t be much worse. He had 18 months out of the game, came back and felt good,” Morgan told Metro.co.uk.

“Now he’s got another setback and will miss a very important summer for English cricket. He’s the type of guy who can take everything in his stride, but this is as difficult as it comes,” he added.

Morgan expressed his support for Archer, saying he had spoken to him as a friend. The former England captain said that Archer will bounce back from this injury setback.

“I have spoken to him. I was lucky enough to get to know a lot of players during my career and a lot of them are good friends so I messaged him as a friend as opposed to anything else,” he further stated.

” Just to make sure everything is okay and tell him there’s always a way back. Sometimes you can struggle to see that after this kind of setback. So, it was just a message of support really,” he concluded.

Jofra Archer made his debut in the longer format of the Ashes against England in 2019 at home. He was the third-leading wicket-taker in the series, taking 22 wickets in four Tests with an impressive average of 20.27, including two five-wicket hauls.
