Cricketer-turned-commentator Nasser Hussain predicted the winner of the much-awaited Ashes 2023 series between England and Australia. Nasser Hussain believes that England have a slight edge over the Pat Cummins-led team in the upcoming five-match Test series at home.

England will host a five-match series against Australia in the longer format of the game, with the first Test scheduled to begin on June 16 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The series will end with the fifth match, which will take place at the Kennington Oval in London between July 27 and 31.

I Can’t See Many Draws – Nasser Hussain

In an interview with the ICC, Nasser Hussain highlighted that all five matches would produce a result, noting England wouldn’t play for draws in the longer format of the game.

“I can’t see many draws simply because of the way England are playing, they’re trying to take the draw out of the equation,” Hussain told The ICC Review.

“Australia in Australia, England have got hammered. Australia in England, Australia haven’t won here, won an Ashes series since 2001, but they’ve always been close. I’m going to go 3-2 to England,” he added.

He Just Takes Wickets For Fun – Nasser Hussain

The former England skipper said that Ollie Robinson will end up as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, pointing out that the pacer is accurate with his bowling.

“If you look at any cricket Ollie Robinson has played, it has been phenomenal. His County stats, his international stats, home, away, Dukes ball, Kookaburra ball,” Hussain further stated.

“He just takes wickets for fun. If he’s fit, keep an eye on Ollie Robinson. He has really burst on the scene. Doesn’t go for many runs, is accurate and bowls a good length for England,” he concluded.

Ollie Robinson missed the one-off Test match against Ireland at home earlier this month. The right-arm pacer has picked up 66 wickets in 16 matches with an average of 21.27 and a strike rate of 47. He took 11 wickets in 4 matches in the Ashes 2019 with an impressive economy rate of 2.69.
