England fast bowler Chris Woakes said that James Anderson isn’t done yet in international cricket, emphasizing that he has plenty of cricket left in him. Chris Woakes said that the players are lucky to have James Anderson, who has represented the nation for more than 20 years, in the squad.

James Anderson had a disappointing performance with the ball in the first two matches of the ongoing Ashes series, managing to pick up only three wickets. The right-arm pacer was dropped from the playing XI for the third match. Chris Woakes replaced him in the lineup in the last game.

Lucky To Have Had Jimmy For So Long – Chris Woakes

In a conversation with Mirror Sport, Chris Woakes expressed his admiration for James Anderson‘s longevity and skill as a cricketer. Woakes believes that Anderson will cross the 700-wicket milestone in international cricket.

“We are lucky to have had Jimmy for so long, and who knows how much longer we’ll be able to call on him? I have a gut feeling that he might have a lot more left in the tank because Jimmy always proves the doubters wrong,” Woakes said.

“He may want to go past 700 Test wickets, but whenever the time comes for him to call it a day – and I’m not making any assumptions that this will be his last game or his last series – we have been blessed that he’s been such a master of his craft for 20 years,” he added.

The Ben Stokes-led team named an unchanged team for the fourth test match against Australia. However, Anderson is unlikely to get a chance in the line-up at Old Trafford, despite it being his home ground.

One Of The Greatest Ever To Grace Test Cricket – Chris Woakes

Chris Woakes hailed James Anderson as one of the greatest bowlers in Test cricket and emphasized that he has the full support of the entire England team.

“In my book, he’s not just England’s greatest-ever bowler but one of the greatest ever to grace Test cricket. The paying public and fans watching on TV are in awe of his technique when they watch the super-slow motion replays of how the ball comes out of his hand… but so are we in the dressing room, and we’re his peers,” he continued.
