Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that he was impressed with England’s bowling performances during the first Test match of the ongoing Ashes series against Australia. Aakash Chopra pointed out that the English bowlers attacked with the ball and denied easy singles to the opposition.
The Ben Stokes-led team made a brave declaration at a score of 393 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on Day 1 of the match at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Former England skipper Joe Root scored an unbeaten 118 runs. Ben Stokes declared their first innings despite Joe Root remaining not out at the crease.

They Deny Easy Singles – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra took to Twitter to appreciate the English bowling approach more than their batting, stating that they challenged the opposition batters to take risks and hit boundaries.
“Love the English bowling approach more than their batting approach…even though it’s the latter that gets noticed more often.” Aakash Chopra tweeted.
“While batting…they keep attacking. And while bowling…they deny easy singles and continuously challenge you to take risks and hit boundaries. It’ll be interesting to see if someone decides to take on their bowlers. Relentlessly,” he added.

England got off to a good start with the ball on Day 2, as Stuart Broad dismissed David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne in consecutive deliveries in the 11th over. The Australian team were reduced to 220/5 before the partnership between Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey helped put them in a good position.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that it will be interesting to see how the England batters approach Indian bowlers in away conditions next year.
“Brendon McCullum has said he doesn’t agree with ‘Bazball’, that it’s not a philosophy, but the philosophy has changed. England’s playing style has changed. Thinking about a change is easy and it is easy to implement it as well at the start because you have the conviction.”
“The question comes when you lose. Then you feel whether it is right or wrong. This entire Ashes will tell how far their philosophy goes and it will be even more interesting when they come to India, that whether they will be able to continue with this philosophy there.”
England has won 11 out of 13 Tests since Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum took over as captain and head coach, respectively. The Ben Stokes-led team had success with their Bazball approach in England, New Zealand, and on flat tracks in Pakistan.
