In a conversation with Sky Sports, Mark Taylor pointed out that it was Jonny Bairstow’s catch, but Brook did well to hold on to the catch.
“There was real confusion for a minute because Bairstow looked at Brook. Brook looked at Brook. Well done Harry Brook there. I reckon that was Jonny Bairstow’s catch,” Mark Taylor told Sky Sports.

“Particularly without the gloves and with the helmet on. That’s tough for him going backwards. Yes or no. That was definitely the keeper’s catch. Gee Brook did well,” he added.

One Of The Weirdest Catches I’ve Ever Seen – Damien Fleming
Former Australian Test fast bowler Damien Fleming expressed surprise at wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow’s not going for the catch. Fleming described that catch as one of the weirdest catches he has ever seen.
“He (Brook) had no idea where he was,” Fleming said on SEN.

“That’s one of the weirdest catches I’ve ever seen. It was almost like you needed the Benny Hill music there. He stopped about three times. Bairstow was nowhere near him. To think he wouldn’t catch that after how it was played, it would have been insane,” he added.
Jonny Bairstow failed to impress with his wicketkeeping in the Ashes series. The 32-year-old missed stumpings and dropped catches, which had significant impacts on the outcome of the matches.
