Steve Smith is without a doubt one of the best batsmen of our generation. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and resilience. Smith has set an ambitious objective of winning the Ashes series in England for the first time as he prepares for his 100th Test match.

While Smith has won multiple honours throughout his career, including being named the number one Test batter, he has yet to win the Ashes in England. Winning the renowned series on English soil will not only be another feather in his cap, but it will also be an in his career.

“It is something that has been on my bucket list”- Steve Smith

Smith has obviously accomplished plenty in his cricket career, but winning the Ashes series in England remains a glaring omission from his resume. Australia’s setback in the Ashes series four years ago was undoubtedly a squandered opportunity, but they now have a second chance. With only one more win to go, the team is on the verge of accomplishing what has eluded them for so long.

Smith’s determination and skills have contributed significantly to Australia’s success in the current series. His exceptional batting performance has put him in a position to lead his team towards a historic victory.

“I have said it for a long time, it is something that has been on my bucket list to win an Ashes series in England, “What a way to top it off, if I could do it in my 100th game, it would be special for sure,” Steve Smith said.

“Proud is the word I suppose”- Steve Smith

Steve Smith, a former captain of Australia, has now amassed 32 Test hundreds, which puts him on a par with Steve Waugh and just behind Ricky Ponting for Australia. His most recent century at Lord’s earned him the Player-of-the-Match title as Australia moved up 2-0 in the Ashes. Few would wager on him adding another century to his collection, just as David Warner did with a double ton against South Africa last year.

“Proud is the word I suppose, The longevity I have had in the game and what I have been able to achieve across those 100 [games]. I have been lucky to play with some tremendous players in the dressing room. Some great teams. I think our team right now is right up there. It’s been a hell of a journey. I have enjoyed every bit of it,” Steve Smith stated on his landmark Test match.
The third Ashes Test will begin on Thursday, July 6 at Headingley in Leeds.
