Bangladesh Cricket Team have faced a big setback as star fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023 with an injury. The speedster had sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the recently concluded series against Afghanistan.
The medical team assessed Ebadot Hossain’s injury and he was deemed unfit to play in the Asia Cup 2023. The pacer needs at least six weeks to recover completely and with ICC World Cup 2023 around the corner, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) didn’t want to risk playing him.
BCB Chief Sports Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury revealed that they did multiple MRIs of Ebadot Hossain after his injury. He also confirmed that they want him fit for the World Cup. He explained (as quoted by ICC):
“Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury. We have had multiple MRIs done during this time and the reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup.
“Considering the importance of the Bangladesh team’s next major event, which is the ICC World Cup in October, the BCB is committed to exploring every safe medical option available for getting Ebadot back to full fitness and playing as early as possible, including consultation and treatment overseas.”
